“Gracie”

Gracie is Dun in color, pure highland and should mature between 42 and 44 inches. Gracie is a bottle baby and was born March 19th., 2025. Gracie is available now, or after she is weaned. $9500

This is her story:

Sometimes things don’t go as planned on the farm and sometimes they just snowball 😕. This is the case with Dottie, our Cow who got into the Chicken pellets. I was just getting my wits about me and thought the worst was behind us. Then just two weeks after acidosis from 25 pounds of layer pellets Dottie gave us a baby girl. Dottie is up in her teens but this is her first baby for us.

She seemed to be progressing in her pregnancy as I expect she should, and her udder was developing nicely. But one peculiar thing was that her teats never filled out. I found that kind of odd, but figured after they were stimulated by the baby the milk would come in, her udder was firm and felt full.
But that never happened.

When Gracie was 8 hours old we thought to be on the safe side we should supplement her with colostrum, in case she wasn’t getting enough from mom. The next day we noticed she was nursing all the time but didn’t seem to be getting anything. We tried milking mom and there was nothing, not even a drop. We needed to make a hard decision to put Gracie on a bottle. Gracie had begun to get weaker and we knew for Gracie’s sake that was the only choice we had.

.

I don’t like putting a baby on a bottle but in Gracie’s case we had no other options and she has done great. 5 weeks later and Gracie is thriving! ❤️. Gracie is available to an approved home only. Her new owners must know how to take care of a bottle baby. $9500
